🗿 BIRTH OF FORM - My stone sculptures

At the age of just 12, I was already carving sculptures, mostly wooden sculptures at the time, andsoon stone sculptures. Unfortunately, there are only a few of these left, 1-2 pieces. Nowadays, I am carving sculptures again, but only stone sculptures.

Stone sculpture is my slowest, deepest creative process. Stone does not give in easily: every carving, every fine grinding is a dialogue with the material. The form unfolds slowly, as if the stone itself were telling me what is hidden within it.

Figures and faces take on a different meaning in stone. The mass, the weight, the subtle unevenness of the surface all contribute to the quiet presence that a sculpture carries. Stone is both ancient and personal — timeless, yet human.

When the sculpture finally reaches a state where it no longer requires any more touching, that is, for me, the most profound moment of creation: an encounter with the material that has become form.
